Audio Boost on CZs?

I had a long time CZ tell me that I was missing a lot of faint targets by not running my audio on my CZ up on 10. I had decided I liked the softer audio of deep targets. I think it helps give me a clue on depth. How about you guys?
Where do you run your audio and what do you think?

On my CZ70 I run my vol at 10, and when I get a deep silver coin, it sounds different then a shallow silver coin. I love that faint "ping" (like a submarine makes)...and when I pinpoint and see it's 8" + deep I know it's going to be something good

Volume at 10 going to hear those real deep ones that one may miss to your hearing or perhaps headphones...Under 5 its modulated (shallow loud and deep low)
I am sure one could argue either way but nice to have both options...Anyway even at 10 deep sounds different to an educated ear...and my hearing isn't what its supposed to be so its max(10) for me but your option may differ...as they both work depending on the individual..

I've been quite successful using lower volume settings on my CZ's... The information Dan-Pa. posted above made me wonder, so, out to my test bed I went... After ground balancing my CZ7 (volume at default of 4 which is the setting I use) checked the 8" silver dime and received a faint High tone (along with the occasional grunt of iron)... Moved the volume to 6, then 8, and didn't notice much difference... Moved the volume to 10, and WOW... That 8" dime was really sounding off... After backing off the volume on my headphones a bit, checked other shallower targets in the bed and was simply amazed... The shallower targets were much louder, as they should be, than the sweet unmistakable, and far more noticeable, sound over that 8" silver dime... From now on, I'm cranking the volume to 10 on the tector and backing off the volume of the headphones... I'm even going to mark the headphones setting, from the test bed, so I'll have the same sounding, or close to, machine wherever I go...

awesome tool to have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wish.....and have asked a certain famous engineer to incorperate audioboost into some future detectors.he basicly said that if he felt enough people wanted it he would do it.

Hello everyone,

I have a CZ-21, that has the same set up. The recommended setting is 5, and above that it goes into boost mode. But, the CZ-21 headset that is hard wired, has no volume control - I hunt with it set and 1 and that is plenty loud. Even at 3 or 4, it is so loud that it is literally painful! Maybe I have dog like hearing! Does anybody use this feature on the CZ-21 - that is hunting with the volume set in the boost zone? If so, how do you get around the no volume control on your headsets. At 10, it is unbearably loud, at least to me. Thanks.

Darryl

Drugstore foam earplugs might do the trick.

I tried audio boost on 10 on my CZ5 today with headphones turned down a few notches and gave it a good try, found out I like the number 5 setting the best. I'm blessed with good hearing and have always liked modulated audio on my detectors. I like a mellow sounding ping and was getting too many false's with the boost on. I was running the sens. at around 4, with 0 disc with the 5 inch coil. Pretty trashy where I was hunting and the boosted signals were killing my ears.

I also have a CZ-21 and cannot wade with it and have the audio above 4. BUT undewater diving I have it on 10 cause the sound is much quieter. I think the problem would be too hard to engineer with their built in headphones to have a waterproof volume knob on them.

I run my CZ3D on 5 also. I have very good hearing, Maybe thats it. I am so used to the sounds it makes and when I get that softer signal in my phones, I know its deep. Just my thoughts.
