Audio Amplifier Distortion

Just a thought for those who use some kind of audio amplifier to amplify a detector's audio...It will introduce noise and also degrade the audio. A way to illistrate this is if you have a TV with two volume controls...One for the TV it's self and then another for your cable box. Often you can hear the white noise if one is turned up too much.

I do agree on that, Doc's does have a filter (so the ad said?) I know when my amps are turned up all the way I can hear a very, very small amount of noise.(Run it on 3/4 most of the time) If you watch any of my video's you will notice the tones of the Excalibur are different when I check the signals in discriminate, but most of my hunting is in almetal now so I'm more after the shape, size, strength of the target..I have tried the Amp with my sovereign in AM, and several of my PI's along with discriminate on the excals..just does nothing more then amp up the audio. And the difference between AM/PP on the Excalibur....I can separate the threshold from the target signal by lowering my threshold to the point of unheard, with the AMP on.............uncovering signals that are unheard by stock Excalibur's

Experienced something different the last time out....a inverted signal. Only reason I noticed it, because 2 hours early I experienced it with the DF............very lowest threshold hum, with the amp on, swinging, threshold disappears for a instant, back over the same spot, a repeat of the drop and return of the threshold, clear some sand with the foot (maybe 2 inch's)...got a signal..in PP..Sad part is, I got it on video but you can't hear the threshold in the vid...it's to low...

I tried many different amps as i needed it for the volume on my Explorers and bought one of Docs and it was the first one i found that actually worked good on the Explorers, but not using it anymore as I found a set of Headphones that is loud enough so I don't need the amp. Even with my bad hearing that is real bad I found a set of Timberwolfs that give me good volume for my Sovereigns and a set of Troy Pros for my Explorer so I don't need the amp anymore, but if a person was looking to buy a amp because the volume is not loud enough the Amp Doc sells for around $100 is a good one.
With trying different headphones I also found a set of the Bushmasters made for a dealer by Detector pro will work good on both the Sovereigns and the Explorer/E-Tracs with great volume, well built and very comfortable
