Audio 1, 2, 3 or Normal

Anyone use audio selections other than normal? If so where, when and why? It's something than I never really see come up on the forums. In trashy areas I could see where it would be a real pain to use anything but normal. In clean quite areas I'm wondering if by using the pitch hold feature that the alternate audio selections offer it may help identify those deep/hard to hear peeps-turning them into beeps. I wonder if it has any affect on iron falsing? Wouldn't it be nice if by using audio1, 2 or 3 you would still get those iffy iron signals but the deep coins would be pitch held and very discernable from them? Wonder if it pitch holds on the iron false?

So let me get this straight....you're actually expecting the Minelab programmers to think?!?! R u mad? And gee whiz, wouldn't it have been nice if we could have disc'ed out signals by DEPTH?!?!

I guess you'll have to wait for the initial release of the new MD manufacturer on the block that is going to revolutionize the industry: BryEr! :clapping:

Most of the time I use Normal BUT for some reason I like using Pitch Hold sometimes as it does give you a more delayed reading of a signal plus I like being different anyway.

This is just my personal preference. I do recall that each audio selection has its own pro & con and this is explained a little in the manual and Andy's book plus on other web pages.

Boy,I sound like a scholar but I'm on my 3rd Natie now, heehee. :buds:

I own the XS and love using audio 2 with fast on. I don't get out with the Explorer a great deal, but what I find, is that in this setting I get the best tone information on targets. Considerably better than standard tones. I like hunting Aussie $1 and $2 coin which are in screw cap range and with this set up, the sounds come through in what sounds like 3D. It makes figuring out what is under the coil a lot easier. I haven't hunted with it a great deal, so I can't tell you what down side there is, but I imagine that you'd need to be patient if you are going over a trashy spot.
Coin tones in general in this set up are much easier to hear as opposed to other targets and that's the whole reason I love to use it.

Especially when relic hunting I like to use ferrous sounds with Audio 3 as it allows easier separation iron/dig able signals.

Low tone means iron increase in pitch means none ferrous. Also seems to make it more sensitive towards small targets.
Works for the beach to.

Otherwise I prefer Normal.
