Audible Tones Question

I use the headphones that came with my explorer, UR-30s by Koss. when I am detecting I sometimes get a faint signal which I can repeat in the upper right portion of the screen but I hear no audible tone. They are usually middle to bottom of the depth gauge.
Is this just a bad signal or are my headphones not responding to the weak signal.
I figured the experts here can give me some input and clarity on this dilemma.
