AU code on Equinox 600 when I noise cancel

vva

New member
Just bought the 600. Trying it in the house.

When I noise cancel I get a AU code instead of a number.

I have watched several videos but haven't seen this.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Does it try to go through the nose cancel process?
That AU seems to refer to auto noise cancel mode.
I just tried my 800, but I do not see AU come up anywhere while performing the procedure.
Never heard of one doing this.

Yes. I push the gear to get to noise cancel, then the accept reject. It goes around the loop and then shows a number for 2 seconds, then goes to AU.

Thanks.

So it does appear to noise cancel.... not sure what that code is about.
Have you tried ground balancing to see if the same code comes up? You are performing the noise cancel correctly from you stated above.

I’m curious where you purchased your equinox.

I was wondering if you might of picked up a counterfeit unit. But the place you bought it from is reputable.

Kellyco has been good to deal with over the years. and helpful on my purchase of the 600. I have contacted them for help just now so will hopefully get an answer from them.

I just did a search are saw where someone else had the same problem posted on a forum. But it said you had to be a registered member. That's all I could see.
I did see on a video that instead of using the accept reject button on the 600 you could use the plus or minus button. You might try that.
If it works fine other than that I'd use it till I got a chance to call minelab.

I registered with Minelab with no problems. So I am comfortable that it is real. I am in Wisconsin and it is minus 15 so have to stay in the house, which is full of electronics etc....

I never heard of this AU appearing. All that I can think of It’s throwing this code due to ( as you mention) excessive interference. Keep us posted. I am curious to the outcome.

I own the 600 model. Your 600 is working perfectly. Read the lower section half of the page of your owners manual. Page-39. REMEMBER the 600 only has Auto Noise Cancel. If your unhappy with the noise cancellation it automatically selects, then just hit the plus button a second or third time or until you're happy with the noise cancellation it automatically selects.

Thanks. That is reassuring. It would be nice if the symbol AU was mentioned. And how the 600 will behave. But you made my day.

PS.... You can Kick just as much Ass with the 600 Model as the 800 model, it just takes a little in depth understanding of metal detecting Now go get em..!!

If the manual does not mention an AU symbol, I would call Minelab. You might have to leave a message but they are good calling back. And if you are stuck inside, You might have the time. But calling them should start a service ticket in case something goes wrong later. Good luck.
