ATX

G'day,

Has anyone, yet, used the new Garrett ATX in areas of thick vegetation? What I need to know is ... will the coil sound off when hitting rocks or trees or grass. In particular, can it be used without the distraction of added noise while being run through wet grass?

Reading the specifications of the new ATX it seems as if it was designed as a dream machine specifically for New Zealand (where I am located). And, as such ... seems too good to be true:clapping:

The only deal killer would be if it can't be used in thick wet vegetation!

Historical photo from 10 years ago when detecting for gold first started to get serious on NZs West Coast after some spectacular gold finds were made with a metal detector (Minelab PI MD) that haven't been equaled since.

I have been out for 3 hunts in a rocky outcrop at an old fresh water beach. There were grasses, sticks, wood and some bull rushes in the area. The sounds from hitting the rocks and sudden jars to the coil 5 were almost non existent as far as electronic interference was concerned. I would suggest the oval 8" coil over the standard 10" x 12" (25 x 31cm) DD Searchcoil.
