Hello all. I'm a Minelab guy and very happy with my excals and CTX. I have used a PI in the past and have been contemplating the ATX as it seems to get some great reviews. Any opinions from those that have used both and if it is worth getting for the cleaned out beaches? Any opinions are welcome......thanks!

If you had of bought the ATX before you bought the CTX, you would have never bought the CTX. the ATX going that much deeper than the CTX.

I dont think so, I am very happy with the CTX. i use it on land, shallow water and is great for trashy areas. I look at the ATX as hunting freshwater beaches that have been hit hard.

I started using an Infinium several years ago, to hunt exactly what you mentioned.."hunted out spots." The ATX is a step up from the Infinium, a it will ID iron similar to the AT Pro. It is more stable and easier to set up then the Infinium. Both the Infinium and the ATX are my main water detectors today. They have paid for them selves many times. Below are my ATX rings from last year. I have found more rings so far this year with the ATX.

That's where it's strength lies. I have many times used my AT Pro at a sterile lake....the type where you don't even get tweak of a signal for 30 minutes. Then, I switched to a PI and the water came to life again. Sure, I dug junk targets, but I also got some great finds missed by others.

I have both the CTX and the ATX, the ATX is deep but I'm a water hunter and you just can't dig that deep successfully in the water. As for the wet sand, yes, the ATX is deeper and IF you want to dig all that depth, it is the machine for you..... my ATX is presently sold pending payment.

Well It's very good for that. Make shore you have a good scoop, I dig Quarter at 26 to 28 inches. I dug a 2.1 gram ring at 18 inches. and the ATX does have disc. Go to you tube you can get more info that way.

My ATX and CTX are the perfect couple for the beach. The CTX has the best discrimination you can get, and the ATX the best depth.
