Atx vs infinium mono

nonmetered

New member
Hi guys. Just wondering how the atx 8 inch mono stacks up against the infinium with 8 inch mono in mild ground. Interested in your experiences. Thanks.

No experience with the ATX 8" coil, but the electronics of the ATX are far and above those of the Infinium.

My ATX is my most used detector year round but the Infinium is my go to detector when I head for the rocks and swift moving water in the winter. I have to say that I do swing an Excalibur with the WOT coil (15") when looking for fresh drops in the summertime. No one detector/coil combination will be the best choice for any given environment. 99% of my detecting is in water, both salt and fresh. If I had an 8" coil for the ATX, it might just get used more than the Infinium in the winter but for what equipment I have, the cost is just not in the cards right now.
I have all the coils for the Infinium as each coil has its own special environment for its use.

I understand the superior electronics give the nod to the atx in hot ground but I am wondering if that translates to noticeably improved performance in mild ground. I posed this question when the unit first came out and never got a for sure answer. Bearcat responded that he may run them head to head in mild ground and report back or post a video but I lost interest and I don't know if he ever did. The infinium with 8 mono is by far the best 'clean out the last of the small relics' at a site that I have ever used. These are sites with very friendly ground and I'm looking for something that will find things the infinium won't. I have been to these small areas many many times and I rarely get a peep anymore. Thanks for any input.

8" mono on an ATX have more umph than the 8" mono on an Infinium LS both in sensitivity and depth.

Infinium 7x3" DD coil on an ATX will detect a 0.03gram picker close to the surface on hot ground.
