ATX coil covers and hard case now at Garrett

Just looking on the Garrett website and I see:

Closed coil covers for all three coils (8", 12", and 20") priced at 20, 25, and 30 dollars respectively).

The 20" open coil cove priced at $30 The open coil cover for the standard 12" coil is marked "COMING SOON" and priced at $20.

No open coil cover for the 8" is shown.

The ATX hard case is priced at $200.

There is HOPE for Garrett fulfilling our wish list...

Since Garrett apparently reads this forum, maybe all current ATX owners that want an open cover will get one sent to them at no charge.

Or trade for a closed cover, like they sent me after the fact when I purchased the ATX.

You would think that Garrett would send everyone the open coil cover just to shut everyone up!! :) on this forum, especially me :hot:

I was told that the dealers should be supplying the open coil covers to those that do not have a cover. We'll see when they become available.

I have cut holes in the Infinium's coil covers. I cut out the two sections in front of the shaft and left the two behind the shaft in tact. The reason for this is when going through the water the pressure on the rear two sections tends to keep the front of the coil down. That has been working for me on the Infinium for 7 years and three coil covers. I still have the make shift car wiring harness cover over the ATX's coil leaving all sections open. I can't wait for the open coil cover...The ATPro's are nice, done right for the water detectorist. I can see the reasoning behind dirt diggers wanting a closed coil cover. It sure is hard to please everyone.

Received a response to my query yesterday from a Garrett representative about when the open coil covers would be available for purchase. The e-mail was rather uninformative, merely stating, "the coil covers for the ATX are in the final stages of production, date of public release remains undetermined." I have to admit, I am not too happy about the continued delay. Don't get me wrong, I like the ATX, but when a detector costs $2000+ and coils are $500 each, I don't feel like I should have to use tape, epoxy or modified solid covers to protect my investment!

Well said, Shayne, I got my ATX the first week of November and was told I would get an open coil cover in Jan - Feb. I am still waiting. I am a relic hunter and have not used the ATX in the water, yet. I want the open cover for ease of pinpointing. The closed cover does not allow for a visual reference like the open cover.
