I knew that would get your attention! :)----What coil(s) do you guys use/prefer on the Golden (new tones) for general hunting---9 X 8 stock concentric or????-----Also, how does the 8" donut & 5.75 concentric coils seem to work out on the Golden?-----Thanks

Hands down the 8 inch doughnut coil for all round use. I don't use a coil cover on mine and it's as light as a feather. It separates about as well as the 5.75 concentric does and it is every bit as deep as the 9 x 8 coil is. Have I mentioned before that I love my 8 inch doughnut coils? :)

Rusty Henry says it one of his favorite coils as well.

I don't own a Golden, but Tabman is right, the 8" donut has excellent seperation that just continues to amaze me. When you get to a trashy area where your disc. is just popping and squawking from all the junk, just slow down the swing and that 8" will seperate the coins from the trash everytime plus you get the depth advantage of the 8" over the smaller coil.

Thanks guys, appreciate your responses.----The 8" donut coil it is then.---Sounds like you can pretty much accomplish two things at once with that coil (pretty good target separation & decent depth).----I know I really liked that coil on a Silver that I used to have.----I want to purchase a Golden when they come back in production and am trying to learn as much as I can about that detector while I'm waiting.----I wonder if it can be purchased with an 8" coil as stock instead of the 9 X 8?---Depends on the deal you can work out with your dealer I guess.

I've worked with the 9X8 and the 8" donut on the same detectors a fair bit. In my opinion, there isn't a major diffference, but If I could have only one, I'd go with the 8" donut. On my machines, it seems to give just a touch more depth and I like swinging it.

I have had the new Golden uMax with stock 9X8 for about 3 months and just recently purchased the 5.75 concentric. I have not use the 8 inch round so I can not compare.
What I can tell you is the 5.75 is amazing. I will probably never take it off. First off, it noticeably made the unit lighter. The short time I have had the 5.75 I have noticed this;
1. Depth is very similar to 9X8. At least I have not noticed a difference
2. I love the 5.75 concentric
3. Target separation is fantastic. I truly believe my treasure to trash ratio has improved
4. I love the 5.75 concentric
5. It may seem like you will take longer to cover a specific area (volley ball court, playground, etc) But I think by separating the junk you actually cover the area in about the same amount of time as with the 9X8
6. I love the 5.75 concentric
In the short time this is what I have noticed. I am sure more will surface as I get more time with it.
Sorry Tabman I had to steal a page from your book :wiggle:

I believe you have the discontinued 10.5 doughnut coil. How does it fit into the mix?

Thanks

Well I like the seven inch coil, sort of a compromise between the 8 inch and the 5.75.

Del, I was using the 5.75 a lot on the Golden, then I got a 7" concentric and it rarely leaves the Golden. Just that little bid bigger than the 5.75, but small enough to be very useful in trash. Pete

7" concentric seems to be a coil that all the old timers liked.I have tested a good bit of coils on the new tone golden. As i worked with the different coils the big thing to take note of is the discrimination changes. As the DD's increased in size the change in discriminated items was more noticeable.I tested on the new tone Golden umax:9x8 stock concentric,8"conc round,5.75 conc,11"solid DD,15x12 sef,12x 10DD,I had good results with all of them.
