It's pouring down rain today so no work and no detecting, so in my boredom I have a question for you guys. If I buy the double D coil, what can I expect in performance compared to the 250 standard coil? How about the Sniper? Will the double D peek down deeper? More or less accurate in id-ing targets?

I have been using the Sniper regularly since I got it but as an experiment, I recently went back to the stock coil and re scanned some areas. I was amazed at how much I left behind the first time. I have a lot more respect for that stock coil. will I have the same epiphany with the double D? Appreciate your thoughts.

MrGee

The Sniper is a deep coil. It will take a lot more gain than the other coils, usually max. I think the biggest reason why targets are left behind using the Sniper is sweep overlap. I only move the coil 2 inches every sweep. You don't get very far per hour but you won't miss much either. But use the coil that your comfortable with. With me it's the 9x12 coil most of the time.

Sniper coil is hard to beat but it is small it is possible to leave stuff with every coil or machine, some one else come through with different machine and pick up a lot of stuff left behind.Bigger coil is nice i have all the coils for 250 plus the 10x14 ex coil. They all work great.Iam waiting to see a report on the new coil for the ace 350 it will work on the ace 250 so if i were you i would hang in there. With each up size in coil you will see some differences in depth and coverage.

:usaflag:I have made all of my best finds with the 6.5 X 9" coil. I have tried using my Sniper more but I always go back to the stock coil. Maybe I'm not patient enough. I have considered selling the Sniper but I feel that it may come in handy someday.

And I have'nt received my DD coil yet...big surprise...so I can't give you an opinion on that one yet. Hopefully soon.

What would you expect? The Sniper is half the size of the stock coil and it's signal covers les than half of what the stock coil covers. In order to cover the most real estate with the Sniper you would have to make a pass then move the coil ahead one inch or so and make the next pass etc., etc.

Thanks to all for your thoughts. That's pretty much what I thought but I haven't been at this long enough to be sure. For nou I guess I stay with the stock coil and save the sniper for tot lots, etc. Gonna go back over some of the places I covered while I was using the Sniper. MrGee
