This is a finds report but it seemed more appropriate here than in to-days finds forum. It is not so much about what I found in the ground but more about what I found in my head.
Work has kept me from hunting as much as I would like and as much as did last year, so I was pleased when work took me to a town about 80 miles away that I get to hunt about every 2 months or so.
My window of opportunity was only going to be a couple of hours so I decided to hit a park close to downtown with a nice sized basketball court right in the middle of it, surrounded by grass.
That's right, gold on my mind! I went straight to the b court and began swinging. The last time I was here the finds were scarce so expectations were not real high. As soon as I dropped the coil in the grass
I began to hit coins, shallow, just in the grass, multiple dom spills, it was a coin shooters dream! I had just completed my third circle around the b court when I spotted another md'er on the south side of the park. Now please understand, seeing other md'ers in my area is a rarity. I have spoke to only two others in almost 5 years and one of those was not a pleasant experience.
As I approached this gentleman I took note that He was digging with a small garden trowel and doing a proper job, drop cloth, pin pointer, probe, everything neatly done. Experience shows!
Spotted the white's prism V so thought "old hand, maybe I can learn something" [ I had turned my f-70 off out of courtesy as I walked up ] We exchanged pleasantry's well enough but it was obvious that he wasn't going to a gusher of wisdom and skill tips. He complainingly said he had only found a dime in 30 minutes. ( I decided not to tell him I had found 76 coins in 45 min, including 4 large coin spills)
He complained that this park didn't have any silver, and when I said "yeah but it has a lot of Penny's" he said i hate Penny's, won't dig them. I then decided that this park had produced my oldest coin, a 1876 seated dime! also the tot lot here had given me a nice 10k gold and diamond ring!
We parted ways and I moved over to far side to give him room, cleaned up around some picnic tables and hit the shade pattern of few trees on my way out. (2 more large multi dom coins spills.
Finished my two hour hunt with 139 coins for $8.04, including 99 pennies!
My best find was that in my mind and heart I HAD A BLAST! and the score or the quantity nor the quality had nothing to do with it!!

Good story. I don't think well used parks are a good place to cherry pick but to each his or her own. Good recovery skills are a sign of an experienced hunter and are to be commended. Sounds like you were busy. Nice finds. Thanks for posting.

Thats a good haul Ed! :clapping: You are running better than a coin/min, and 4buck/hr!:beers: Those big spills sure do make up a fast total! Clad is fun!
