Attention Whites or other coil builders

Was thinking today :nerd: and wondering why no one has done this yet should be easy to do. A coil about 12" outside and six inch inside. Hunt with the large coil for depth and coverage in clean ground then when you come into a trashy area maybe flip a in-line switch and go to the 6" inside coil to hunt the trash. This would be a real handy thing to have especially relic hunting. Am i crazy or does any one else want one of these. No more carrying a extra coil.

I also thought about that idea , it would be a dual type coil with switching between coils done by a press of a button or flick of a switch- super idea but i doubt we will ever see it.....

I would think 4 coils would be pretty heavy. It takes 2, a transmit and a receive, per size. I do like the idea though.

I'd like to have one that could switch from DD to Concentric

No problem with the volume here run mine almost wide open. Did to much shooting and loud music as a kid. think I must be half deaf the volume is great with me.

I thought of a similar idea--it would be like a zoom lens on a camera. It would start at a certain size and you could zoom it smaller and smaller as you needed.

The idea is good, but the fleshing it out is probably pretty tough.

A Good Idea for BFO or PI. Bounty Hunter (the Olde), Garrett, and White's have all made such coils. But induction balance is far, far more difficult, and not practical.

I knew there was a reason we did not have one of these yet. thanks

Good Idea Jason but out side of the weight factor it would be sort of heavy, I think the main reason would be cost, the company wants to make money and selling coils is there way of doing that I think. Just my thought

Yes, i have talked to a few engineers about that and what they told me maked sense.

They will need to optimize the wire in the coil at two differnt coils, making it to heavy for anyone....

At least that what im told......And i understand that i would rather have two different coils.

Swell idea
Maybe the coil not in use may have a negative effect on the field on the one that is being used .
Weight
Cost
I have times where I really like to use small coils, and one of them is among brush and sides of streams etc. where swinging a larger coil is not as easy. And speaking of coil design, a coil with no opening (solid) I find easier in situations where an open or spoke type gets brush caught in the opening.
But like your idea.
[add] I hope some more new coils come out this year.
