Attaching magnets to the interior of a water scoop

I currently have a scoop that I tie wrapped two heavy 3" x 1/2" speaker magnets to each side of the scoops side. My next step is to cut down on the weight and increase the magnetic strength by using those Neodyne magnets. I'll have to secure them with adhesive. Or drill a hole in them and mount with nut and bolt. Not sure how brittle they are. I've seen other treasure hunters use silicon and glue the speaker magnets to the inner sides of their scoop. Any words of wisdom in attaching these new type of magnets? Thanks.

I use the 7/16 magnets, I put 16 of them in my scoop, small light weight. I used a 2 part epoxy glue. You'll need to rough up the surface so the'll hold better. I found it better to mount between the holes and run the epoxy on both top and bottom making like a bandage. then mount the magnet. you can cover the whole magnet with the epoxy. it works well. hh willia

"and run the epoxy on both top and bottom making like a bandage. then mount the magnet." run the epoxy on the top and bottom of what? The scoop or magnet? I'm mechanically impaired so thank you for explaining what to most is obvious.

sorry about that, I'm mechanically incline, but when it comes to words or explaning things I suck. I mount my magnets between the holes in the scoop so that I can Put the epoxy on both top and bottom having a continious wrapping of epoxy. I do this because the changes of temperature will cause the scoop to expand more than the epoxy, and they tend to come off..
