ATpro versus the ATGold

I have a Whites coinmaster and a Garrett Ace 350. I am thinking about selling both the machines I have but need to get some info. I am torn between a ATGold or a ATpro. Is it worth the extra $100 for the ATGold? I mainly just hunt yards and tot lots, but would like to try prospecting, but if the ATpro will find Gold Why pay the extra $100. Most videos I have watched the people owning both mainly use the ATpro. need some good advice. Thank You

I have had both and the AT-Gold was my favorite of the two and I do the same kind of hunting you do. The AT-Pro is a awesome machine too but it lacks a true all-metal mode which is what you need to hunt for small gold it also runs at 18 kHz which makes it a little more sensitive to low conductors like gold. In my results the 100 dollars was money well spent. This is just my opinion. I couldn't imagine life without having a AT-Gold in my hand while detecting.

I have the AT Pro and love the ability to walk into a bottlecap infested area and with the use of the 5x8 turn up the discrimation and pick out those coins hidden in the mess. With the AT Gold I do not think you can tune the discrimation like you can with the Pro. I still find very small things with the pro like small anklet chains, and other things that really surprise me. They are great machines and I am sure whatever machine you choose will work great.

If you are going prospecting, you should definitely consider the AT Gold because of the sensitivity and extra depth you get with the true all metal mode. The Gold also has a unique feature where you can set up a parameter of ground conditions, so that you don't have to manually ground balance the detector as often. Good luck with your decisionn They are both quite capable metal detectors.
