ATPro helps a hunch materialize!

I often go on hunches and this one worked out. Between studying maps and local histories I get worked up to test out these hunches. Took the ATPro with 5x8" for late day walk in the woods with plenty of water. The tree canopy helped keep the sun muted but this was our first humid day and you know the mix of sweat, deet and dust creates a funky paste. In the first 15 minutes I dug the '23 & '24 wheat backs. ten minutes later the 1910 V nickel turned up. Then the 1902 cent, good keepers kept sounding off sweetly on the ATP.

That little coil has always impressed me. After a mild cleaning: Silver Italian 1863 20 centesimi, 1903 Barber dime, 1902 cent, 1910 V nickel, '23 & '24 wheat backs, thin silver ring & a plated ring. One flat button. The Italian silver is comparable to a half dime and rang up at 60 - 62.

A few more odd keepers are still in my pouch for future examination & cleaning.

I'll clarify how tiny that Italian silver is. The Barber dime I found weighs 2.3 grams. The 20 centesimi weighs only .8 gram or approx a third of a U.S. silver dime.

Beautiful bunch of oldies and great photos! What a thrill when they just keep on coming! Thanks for posting your treasures.

Great story and Great Pictures. When I got into this in the '60's this is what it was like. You are living proof that with a little bit of research you can still turn back the clock and find the GOOD STUFF. WHAT A GREAT JOB!!!

Wow! Great hunt.

Oh you are so right. Thanks for the kind words. I've had a good spring with some nice keepers incl a Fugio, CT copper, 1813 large cent and some hard times tokens were from researching that the areas were heavily used and/or have remained as is for over a century or two. Gotta poke around to know.

Everyone has a little intuition in them. ALways follow
that hunch! Ever DREAM about a place to metal detect, and
find that place actually exists?
