ATPRO AIRTEST

Out with a friend today[he uses a e-trac and I use a ATPRO with the 5by8 coil...he uses the larger coil on his e-trac].Well,after he found 2 mercs...one @ 6 inches, the other at 8......I said to myself..What am I doing wrong? To make myself feel better I air tested the 5by8 coil when I got home.Silver dime maxed out at 6 inches.....silver quarter @ 8 inches and a silver half @ 12 inches.Made me feel better, guess you have to be over it to find it!.....P.S....got my 1st Sacagawea 2000.....3 inches down....vdi'd...84!

Yep...if your detector is working properly, its the luck of your coil passing over a target. If you hunt with him again you could ask him if you could run your coil over a target he finds before he digs it.

Air tested my AT PRO with the bigger DD coil it comes with and got a good signal with a penny at 10 inches.

I dig coins regularly at 8 to 10 inches.

That has been my average latley. Pain to dig. I got a half at 12 and it rang in loud and clear. Your not missing anything with the AT pro. The machine goes deep. To get the deeper ones headphones are a must. You would be surprised what ya miss without them.

Also, I don't care too much about air tests. The results you stive for objects in the ground, not floating about. The AT Pro goes deep and has great recovery time. Now lets get that coil over some targets!

Absolutely! In fact, I believe that 99% of the time targets are found deeper in the ground than air tests portray.

I've done air tests to get a feel for audio and VDI numbers on different targets. Never took much creedence on the "depth" issue of air tests. I could never ground balance air. It is what it is in my estimation.
