ATP headphone adapter and earbuds

I just bought the ATP headphone adapter, radio shack inline volume control #4200964, 1/4 to 1/8 adapter and some Phillips Action Fit earbuds. Hooked everything up but get sound thru detector speaker and no sound thru the ear buds. Any ideas why it won't work? Is there a certain power level to the earbuds that is required? These have 16 ohm impedance Is that not enough to disable the detector speaker and allow sound thru the earbuds? Could the ATP adapter or the inline volume control be bad? Appreciate any help anyone can offer

Not sure but I think you have to have volume control as well I will Ty my wireless setup through the AtT nd see if it works only used it on my Tesoros so far

BarryL thanks for response. I am using an inline volume control from radio shack. Wonder if it could be bad causing no sound thru the earbuds?

Well I tried my wireless setup on my AT and the sound works OK but has a lag in response that I don't have with My Tesoros will investigate further

Did you get the radio shack extention with volume control? That what I use and have returned it once for replacement. It isn't high quality and I returned one after about 3 months. You do have to make sure the headphones are plugged in all the way. I have to wiggle the plug occationally too, to get both left and right to work.

Grumpy, I got the same radio shack extension with volume control that you gave the part number for on a previous post. Thought I had everything plugged in all the way but will try again before going back to radio shack. Maybe I just got a bad one. One thing though, when I unplugged the ATP adapter, the rubber end of the plug stayed in the detector end and pulled out of the adapter I pulled it out and put back in the adapter but wonder if that could be causing me problems?

Here is how i did it on the Tesoro detector.Tesoro uses a stereo headphone jack plug.I do not know if Garret uses a stereo or mono jack plug. The koss volume control works good for me.I use earbuds mostly.

I also had trouble sometime back with the speaker in the ATP kicking in and the ear buds quiting. The plug on the adapter had worked lose. I haven't unplugged my adapter since I got it.

It does sound like your adapter isn't connected correctly.

61Chip: I had the same issue with the adapter end staying in the jack. That is almost certainly your problem, give Garrett a call and they'll get you fixed up. Now I put a little silicone grease on it.

Guys, thanks for all your responses. Sounds like I'm having an adapter issue with the plug end pulling out. I'll give Garrett a call tomorrow to see if they can fix me up

Let us know what happens.
