ATP digital screen

IKSDoomsday

New member
Noticed when the detector gets turned on after about 5 minutes the digital screen turns a beautiful rainbow color at the top and comes down in a setting sun pattern.. light reds, blacks and such...does not make the detector non readable but I am wondering if all of yours do that while running? It does go away as soon as the detector is shut off but then comes back after a little use.

I get that once and awhile KSDoomsday.

Maybe someone here that knows why, could be kind enough to chime in.

It's happened about a half a dozen times since I've owned my machine and it seems to occur (for me anyways) when it's cold and damp outside but does go away eventually. And as you mentioned, it doesn't affect anything when it occurs (that I'm aware of).

:)

You see that rainbowy stuff on the screen if you are wearing polaroids too...its hard for me to see those little things on the screen even in good light.

The Tempature causes it I think as well but the faceplate is a stick on cover and can be changed out Sometimes they will get a streak across them as well looks like a scratch on the inside not sure why but it will get like an air pocket in between the layers of Plastic on the cover . If it gets too bad just contact Garrett They will send you a new faceplate and instructions to change it . It is very easy

I think that you've just nailed what is happening to my machine.

thats good to know that the faceplate is easy to correct, I had thought mine may have to be shipped out for repair, yes it does sound like the same issue here without the colors.

Just go to the Garret website and contact them this week and I bet they will send you guys out a new one if Ya ask em I am going to go there this week and check out the place as well I live about 20 miles from em

Thanks for the replies all. I am not going to worry about the screen as it does not do anything to the detector and looking around a little more I have seen past posts that have the same non-issue.
