atp an atgold question

what is the difference in disc. i an disc 2 on the gold? plus i understand that the coil plug is fragile, so how would it hold up to changing coils? i probley wouldet change back an forth to often, probley four or five times during the summer water hunting, an about the same other times. sense the prongs on the plugs, or detc, ever which one, anyway as long as im careful would it hurt to change coils fairly often?

Disc one on the Gold is the same as zero discrimination on the AT Pro. Disc 2 is the coin mode, same as the Pro. The big differences between these two detectors is that the AT pro has notching abilities to make your own person choices, where as the AT Gold- Disc 1 and Disc 2 are each fixed, with no ability to change the settings. The AT Gold has a true all metal mode with an adjustable threshold, the AT Pro has a zero disc mode (different from a true all metal mode) and no threshold. The AT gold was designed with gold hunting in mind and still makes a great coin and relic machine. The AT Pro was designed with relic and coin hunting in mind and will also double up as a good gold detector.

Hope this helps........

You need to be carefull when changing the coils or the headphones. And.... if you are like me, put on your glasses and have enough light to see what you are doing. Just make sure that you have the plug oriented correctly before you try to push it in place.

I don't think the plug is really fragile it's just not the easiest thing in the world to line up. It get's better with practice as I change my coils a lot!

thanks for the comments. i dont own eather one yet.its just that i see so many for sale, i would be using it in the water probley more than land. i havent read a lot on the forum , about if people or having trouble with leaking or not, i did post on the for sale fourm that i had some trades, for a atp. i got five people instered in traiding their atp. if they liked what i had.i told this to make a point about a lot of folks seems to wont to get rid of their atp.but then i guess its like everythang else, some like them an some dont.

John one of the major differences that I like is the gold has a threshold you can adjust.. Even when coin hunting I like to hear the threshold hum... especially when hunting in trash to help tell if the target is good or bad, and on the super deep targets that don't register a tone, just a rise in threshold...
