AT4 vs Sea Hunter Beach Hunter

I have been using a Garrett AT4 and see in the Kellyco catalog the Garrett Sea Hunter and the Whites Beach Hunter, I was thinking of upgrading, Since it is near the end of the season I was thinking of watching on Ebay for used units.
Will either be signifigantly better than the AT4?

Which is better for fresh water as well as ocean beaches around New England?

Garret Sea Hunter all the way. I miss mine. First 2 days out I found gold with Sea Hunter, after 10 hunts, still have not found gold with new Excal. Sea Hunter is the way to go. If you plan on hunting water, go all the way and get a water machine that is submerssible and do it right. Get the Sea Hunter because it really goes deep. But of course if you can go with more $$$$, then go with Excal 1000 because Sea Hunter loves loves loves trash and you will dig dig dig dig dig.

Do you want a PI where you will dig everything because you will not know if it is iron or gold or do you want a discriminating machine that will discriminate out the scrap iron in the sand and allow you to find gold and clad along with pull tabs of course.. And if you want a beach machine then go with one that is totally submersible. And be careful about what you buy on Ebay......you could get skunked with a dead unit.

I WOULD GET A BEACH HUNTER ID IT WILL ID YOU TARGETS SO YOU WON'T HAVE TO DIG TOO MUCH IRON JUNK,IT GETS GREAT DEPTH,EASY TO USE ,WORKS WELL ON MASS BEACHES.YOU GOT 2 MODES TO HUNT IN ALL METAL WITH VISUAL ID OR TONE ID WITH VISUAL ID.ITS MUCH BETTER PRICED!! LESS LIKELY TO BREAK TOO. IF YOU WANT TO DIG EVERY TARGET GET THE PI PRO IT GETS GREAT DEPTH THE BEST I HAVE SEEN..BUT NO DISC.

BeachhunterID is a great detector for both fresh and salt water enviroments..

I use the PI PRO exclusively.. Don't buy into the hype it finds all the junk or you will dig and dig, if you know where to use it, you won't find anymore junk than a person using a discriminating machine. I know by sound what iron sounds like if you have the patience to learn your detector it can't be beat for depth.. The PI is my water machine, the DFX is my wet sand detector.

Remember its the person behind the detector that will make your hunt successful. I have researched all the beaches I hunt, I don't look for fresh drops.. I'm after old gold, I won't put the fresh stuff in the trash bag :) but I prefer the old stuff and the beaches I hunt have given me plenty this year... Winter is my preferred hunting time when the sand moves out leaving old beach exposed in the wet and in the water.I don't detect much in summer.

I use my PI "only" in the water where there is little trash, Its not a detector for dry sand, most trash on the beaches is in the dry sand I don't hunt dry sand, I'm not a clad hunter, I'm looking for gold.. I hunt deep water troughs and areas where the currents and tides have depleted the beaches of sand and left shells and rocks exposed.

If you want a PI use it in the wet.. My set up is PI water DFX wet sand and leave the dry for grandma and grandpa lol..

The BeachHunterID is fine for your needs you can use it freshwater/saltwater/dry/wet.

I have a brand new BeachHunter ID straight from the White's factory in Oregon that has never been used. They replaced my 3 month old BeachHunter with a brand new one in late September. White's service is second to none. The problem is I purchased a HeadHunter PI while my BeachHunter was off being repaired/replaced. I'm an old guy and find the Headhunter lighter but I miss the discrimination of the BeachHunter ID.
I intend to solve the problem by letting the brand new BeachHunter go for an unheard of price.
In your case a Tesoro SandShark might be the way to go.
