At what point do you choose a DD coil over the other on an XT70?

With my MXT, the say use a DD when mineralization is at a certain level. What is that point with an XT70? I live in the mountains and a DD coil was called for with the MXT. I want to get a new coil for my XT70 and I know the Freq I want, but I don't know what to get in the way of DD or concentric.

Please give me your ideas.

Thx

In my opinion, if your detecting in mineralized soil, the DD is the best coil to use. You can usually run it at higher sensitivity levels and get more depth over the concentric coil. In less mineralized soil, the concentric coil may have a slight advantage in depth. The thing that I love about the DD coils is the blade like detection pattern from front to rear. It really helps get around junk so you can separate the good objects from the junk. As the detection pattern is blade like from front to back, you don't have to overlap as much as you would with a concentric coil with it's cone like pattern. It allows you to cover more ground in less time. The DD coils do weigh a little more.
There is nothing wrong with the concentric coils, but for my style of detecting and the fact that where I hunt tends to be more mineralized, the DD coils work the best for me.
The DD coils also pinpoint well. Either right under the label on the coil or by pulling the coil back until you just loose the signal in which case the target is right in front of the coil. In the end, I just like the DD coils better because I think that I get more finds with them.
All that said, I'm kinda itching to get my hands on the 3kHz concentric coil. I just love new toys and the ability to use the coil that works the best for the conditions that I am detecting in. Choice is a great thing.

Good hunting, John K
