Was in damp sand, 89 VDI, so I planted me newly purchased silver dollar just to see what I could see. The buried ruler sitting on top of the coin said 10 inches when I pulled it out. First was the XS 1
with the orange PP coil. Audio was there but erratic. Screen showed dollar where it should show dollar.
Then the Trusty MXT with the 8" Excellerator coil. DANG!!! is what came out of my mouth, this thing was getting a smooth soft audio hit and VDI was showing 80 thru 85. Never expected that.
The thing that gripes me is that now that I know where silver dollars read on the XS screen I have had similar readings in the past but because the audio was broken I quit diggin.
Least now I now what to look for on both machines.

Yeah, you have to keep in mind the ID and the tone are seperate on purpose. If the tone is broken and you're getting a good ID, dig down a smidge, that sucker is deep! As you dig, your tone should start coming in nice and high and the ID will steady up as well. If they both go to pot, then you can stop digging....but if one is still good....
