LS hunter

Member
I went too the tube and seen the AT pro in action but nothing on the beach performance ,I would like to know how it will do in salt water.....
I hope Garrett post some thing on this...

I went threw a lot of info on the Garrett ATpro and nothing saying any thing on or in salt water..A lot of people or make the new Garrett the next best thing cents slice bread,Please dont get me wrong in my opinion Garrett has always made top of the line detector and when they release a new detector most of not all the kinks or worked out ...i just think Garrett should empower us with as much info as they can.....Im really looking at the AT pro for beach hunting salt water beach hunting I have used Garrett detectors for over 15 years now owning 8 over that time and each one of them i gotten for a certain task it would really be nice too have a do it all detector in your arsenal.....Greg.....

I don't know of any (VLF Single frequency) detectors that have been a (depth Demon) In (wet salt water sand)........(not dry) You need all the Depth for that type of Hunting......Hint (PI)

The AT Pro is not out yet, so no body knows ?

One thing for sure it will be a killer fresh water hunter

There was some talk about a "Tweak " .......That doesn't sound lke a Saltwater machine to me ......As mentioned , Single Frequency machines have NEVER been good Saltwater machines ........Sure , they will work a little bit, but work GOOD ? ......I haven't seen one yet .......I also have not seen anything on the videos or the literature metioning Saltwater ... I do hear mention of FRESH water loud and clear though ...... The one feature that sets the AT Pro apart from other detectors is the fact that it can go 10 ft in FRESHwater ........ ..... Jim

Garrett will come out later with info on the saltwater aspects. The engineers are putting it through its paces at the Texas coast as we speak. Since saltwater hunters are a tiny percentage of purchasers I don't see it as a big deal.

I wounder why its not check off....any one knoe why surf and turf...

The closest thing I saw mentioned regarding saltwater was about the coil-being a DD type reducing the effects of saltwater mineralization. Kind of a nod that direction but nothing specific. I'm waiting for that video on the coast! Any word Uncle Willy?

Bill ,
I guess the boys at Garrett think it's a big deal or they wouldn't be trying to "Tweak" it to work in the salt ....... Jim

Using the original AT3 from years ago was a killer on gold rings in freshwater, had a switch internally that made it suitable for saltwater but was not as deep so they have the technology..
Anyone that has ever hunted saltwater beaches knows or should know no two beaches are the same or for that matter same one changes from day to day due to wave action...

In fact some saltwater beaches can only be hunted with a PI unit so sort of a loaded question to a degree...and only time will tell......
