AT PRO Which coil works the best for you?

I use the 8.5 X 11 coil even in trashy areas, it seperates GREAT and when I work my way away from the trash areas I still have a deep coil on. JMO

I plan on getting the 5 x 8 coil for iron laden sites...for a bit more separation. From most reports, this coil maintains good depth, and it was engineered for the AT platform. I have heard the concentric coils used pre-existing technology...the sniper not being as sensitive as the new DD coils. I will defer to other users that have used the larger concentrics.

I finally got a chance to try my new 5x8 today, and I have to say, it is a good little coil. Certainly deeper than I thought it would be. pulled a silver rosie from a trashy area that I have hunted several times in the past with the factory 8.5x11 coil.

If you count 8" deep silver dimes as good with the 5x8 I'd say I like it.

When separation isn't a problem I get better performance from concentrics.Except at the beach or minerlized ground.

In an ideal world the 6.5in. conc. should go deeper than the 5in. DD.

I used the 6.5x9 concentric most of the season last year mostly in parks ballfields etc for coin hunting. Its a killer on coins and jewelry. I took it relic hunting a few times. Found a hammer head about 4 inches down at an old homestead that shows up on an 1875 map. Now I can't find that son of a gun any where. I am afraid I left it in my truck when I traded it off last year:angry: also I found an old horse shoe at the same site. It was about 11 inches down. It hit like alot of deeper iron does ( up in the 80s) I could tell by the sound that it wasn't going to be a coin. but I don't have a problem digging this kind of target when relic hunting. I know a smaller target at that depth probably wouldn't have been picked up by the 6.5x9. I found several old sites to hunt this year. I'll use the stock coil and the 9x12 concentric for those areas. Okay I've rambled enough.:detecting:
