AT Pro water leak question

Just interested in what customers of the AT Pro with water leak problems have seen with sending machine back to Garrett for warranty. Has problem been fixed or do they still leak ?The reason I ask is because I took my AT out in the water for the first time and after a little over an hour it started going crazy and after further inspection there is water behind the face. I am an avid water hunter and am having serious second thoughts about this unit. I thought it would be a great freshwater hunter but if can only be in the water for an hour before a leak starts .....forget it !!! It was doing great in the water before the leak.

After getting my AT back home, I checked all connector fittings and orings....all connectors dry inside and no cuts or abrasions on orings.....battery compartment dry also.....leak must be on the face plate I would guess???? I was really impressed with the AT's capabilities (ID and audio)on junk targets. For awhile I thought I had the ultimate freshwater hunter. Hopefully being a Garrett product the AT problem will get the attention of the factory and a permanent fix is already in the works. My Sea Hunter and Infinium never had leak problems........maybe Garrett needs to use whatever sealing method they use on these machines and use it on the AT Pro.

Mine did the same thing, lasted in the water about two hrs. I sent it back and was told that for a time someone was not installing the faceplate seal properly. This has been rectified, so hopefully that problem has been solved. I'm ready to give it another shot. Good luck Lakehunter----Wade

Just send it in for repair and when it comes back don't be in fear of taking it in the water. My first one leaked, went nuts...I sent it in. Since getting it back it has been in the water atleast a dozen times fully submerged each trip for easily 1 1/2 to 2 hours each time...not a single problem. It really is an awesome water hunting machine...PRO mode with the unique scratchy and low-high-low tones is the cats meow! Biggest hurdle is pinpointing in the water! I'm slowing getting the hang of it...got it down on land...but in the water it still is my biggest crutch.

I was just told by the factory that the problem has been taken care of, so I just sent mine back to Garrett for the fix. What is the fix ???? You got me on that one !!!! Just hoping it will be fixed. It really is an awesome machine for the short time I had it in the water. I could get use to it really quick if it holds up.

Thanks to all the replied.

Now to the ones that have their machines .........GO FIND THE GOLD !!!! And give me something to look at on the forum while mine is being repaired. LOL !!!! :stretcher:

If the face panel was installed wrong what happened to Quality Testing???? could have saved a lot of dead time??? And will Garrett use the same Mother Board??
And if so is it still calibrated??
Garrett are you Listening??????????????

I didn't get that type of service on the phone. I wish I would have.
