AT PRO vs. Scorpion

Smudge

New member
If someone is a coin and jewelry hunter ONLY (not interested in relic hunting or beach hunting or anything else), which would be the better choice?

The AT PRO seems good at identifying bottle caps in the pro mode, which is great.

That Scorpion really seems to bang well on jewelry and shallow coins too.

I understand the Scorpion will come with a steeper learning curve.

So if someone has used both, what do you think?

AT Pro. The battery setup is worlds better and cheaper with much better ID and notch possibilities. GB is faster and fewer environmental variables to concern a person. ..Willy.

That's a tough question to answer. The Scorpion has that nice analog sound. Pinpointing off the toe of the coil in all metal gives off a nice analog tone, which when you learn it, tells you a lot about the target, such as depth and probable ID. The AT Pro has it beat in depth, and has digital readout information. The Scorp hunts by sound only. Both machines love holed targets like rings and pull tabs. I think thjat if you hunt only coins and rings, the Scorpion would do just fine.

The Scorpion is a good goodie getter and nuggetshooter but for general all around hunting I would lean towards the PRO.

Both are great machines but VERY different. Scorp has one tone for everything...AT Pro has MANY tones...I'd have to go with the AT for what your asking.
