AT Pro vs 2500

Is there any features, benefits a person would see that the Pro has over the 2500?
I've been contemplating adding another detector to my arsenal and may consider a white or a fisher.
I know that this is probably sacrilegious mentioning that in this forum, but would appreciate any comments from anyone that has Garrett's and /or Fischer and/or White detectors.
I own the 2500 and the 250 and I'm very happy with both, but I'm curious about the competition out there. Occasionally I like to test drive a GM even though I'm partial to Ford if ya know what I mean.
Thanks

The iron discrimination and being waterproof are big pluses for the AT. But the 2500 has imaging and true all-metal mode. I don't see how you can really compare the two. I have the 2500 and am thinking of adding an AT to the line-up, but for uses in different areas.

The waterproof feature was what first attracted me to the AT Pro. I don't scuba, but have used mine in the water but have always been very concerned about loosing my footing and taking a dive with disastrous results. I didn't realize that the Pro didn't have a true all metal mode. Thanks for the info!

Also forgot to add...can you not discriminate iron out with the 2500 in the Custom mode? Iron usually hits on the bottom two and by notching them out would you not accomplish this?
Thanks for your input.

The AT uses a 40 point iron scale for discrimination, compared to 2 on the 2500. Finer adjustment in relic areas where you get a lot of nails and such.

I have a 2500 and I'm very close to adding an AT Pro. I think it would be fun to hunt with something new. I'm still around 8 or 9 thousand coins from finding 50,000 coins with my 2500, though, which I'd like to accomplish. I will certainly miss imaging. No reason I can't take both along with me. Right? Will my 2500 still speak to me, though? (Yes, I am a fan of Treasure Talk!)

I have also been wondering about that mod for the AT Pro concerning falsing. Has that been ironed out? Have the detectors being sold now been fixed of that trouble. I'll probably call Garrett before I buy. I was thinking of getting one before Easter.

I think you mean "Gabby " At first I wasn't sure who you were referring to.
I live in Canada and have only assumed the pseudo name Gabby Hayes. You'd remember him as Roy Rogers side kick.
I come by the name Gabby honestly as my middle name is Gabriel. I think my mom knew I'd need a little extra help from the main guardian angel growing up.:heh:

is not only water proof to 10' it's quite a bit lighter at just over 3#. I can honestly tell you it hit a large cent at 11". And it is fun altho I'm sure the 2500 is also (that's why we do this, rite).
Chris I believe the falsing issue has been solved with a new coil, but the Garrett people can confirm that for you. The way you hunt Chris that few thousand coins shouldn"t be far off.

The weight is a consideration. I can tell you that swinging the 2500 (Plus I also have a Sunray probe attached) gets heavy. That is why if I'm going out for several hours I often use my 250, and only use the 2500 when I'm looking for something specific, like a lost ring. I'm not sure what the 250 weighs off hand but I'd guess it's close to half of what the 2500 is. If the Pro is also light that is a definite consideration.
I was hoping that there would be a few people that have Garrett's and/or Fischer'sor White's would comment on what they like/dislike between the two brands.
