AT Pro versuses the AT Gold??

Is There any really good reasons to go with the ATG over the ATP??
I understand if you're prospecting or in heavily mineralized soil ( which neither will apply to me) but is it that much better?? I realize the ATG is good for 10ft of water but the most I would do is 2-3 ft in creeks... Thanks for your thoughts on this??

depends what you're looking for. the atg runs at a slightly higher freq (18 khz vs 15 for the atp) that should see slightly smaller gold than the atp. The atg has an adjustable ground bal window that would be an advantage in hot ground. There are other differences to consider also. Download & read both manuals from garretts web site, that should help with your choice.

The price difference is less than a $100, that's why I was wondering.. Thanks for the replies..

Are they country channels, lol..??

ATP is good for 10' of water also. I use the ATP for water and find very small thin gold chains/ bracelets. ATG has a true all metal mode, I have both, use the ATG for relic hunting deep targets and both are great in iron infested colonial sites they pick in between the iron for good targets.

Unless you are specifically looking for gold, the AT Pro will serve you well.

Thanks John,
That's really what I wanted to hear.. That and the pro being waterproof at that depth, not that I will be submerging it more than 3-4 ft.. Appreciate the feed back.. 1 question, I keep hearing about bed liner paint or a coil cover.. What's the deal.. Is it necessary or just not getting scratches?? What color do they usually paint them???

Yep!

I use bed liner spray on my coils because I beach hunt. Sand gets between a coil cover and coil so I went to bed liner. I use black. It makes the coils more durable than using nothing at all. I think it works really well. I will never use another coil cover. I just did my 5 x 8 tonight. I heard coil covers are hard to find for that particular coil anyways.

One thing that I would like to add about the Pro and Gold difference is the all metal mode. The At Gold has this feature and the Pro does not. For strictly prospecting and maybe relic hunting. But it does add depth. And it is a nice feature if you are going to do that type of hunting.

Thanks for the replies and info guys, I certainly appreciate it..I will go with the ATP, black bedliner..
