AT Pro VDI # on silver quarter?

Hey guys, finally got out today for a little bit of beeping, and dug a '45 washington quarter, that registered a solid 81. I had been playing around with the ground balance, dropping 10 points lower than it automatically balanced. Normally clad dimes come in at 81, with silver dimes coming in at 82 or 83. The places I hunt have been hit hard for many years, so I don't find many silver quarters. What kinds of numbers are you guys seeing with silver washingtons?
Thanks, and HH!
Darren

Jeez! Nice find! I would have expected high 80's or low 90's for that silver quarter. Do you think dropping the ground balance skewed the VDI? GL and HH. Matt

Usually mid-80s (or higher; especially in trashy underwater); but dig, scoop, dig those 80s.

I had one at a solid 90 at 2 inches and anouther boucning 83-87 at 6 inches. nice find!

I figured that the GB had something to do with it, so I went back outside and ground balanced the machine. Then tossed the '45 quarter down, and it hit at 81. I tossed a '53 down, and it is hitting at 58. Looks like I just have a hokey quarter!

The VDI really depends on the soil mineralization, depth of the coin, how long the coin has been in the ground, the coins position, moisture in the ground and a host of other things.

I dig all signals that are stable and repeatable. Anything reading in the 80's or 90's is an automating dig after checking iron audio.

The VDI's you get will depend on the ground you are detecting. If the ground is very dry or ver moist. I hit a 925 ring today and it read a solid 82 in moist ground. Silver usually vdi's around 88-90 if the ground is moist then maybe as high as 91 or 92. Big silver like a silver dollar may go as high as 94, but rarely.
