After reading a post by Max about how well his new Garrett AT PRO was working in the wet salt sand for him I wanted to go give it a try.
Up to now I have only used the STANDARD MODE at the beach and in wet sand there was no setting it would work at.
Nothing but chatter.
Did not even try the Pro Mode assuming it would be worse ... Wrong!
The PRO MODE is a totally different story in wet saltwater sand.
Got to the beach and did the normal auto GB (it came in at 13) set it up in PRO MODE with the ZERO program and started sweeping the wet stuff.
I was very surprised to find there was hardly no chatter chatter even with the sensitivity set all the way up to MAX!
Even the incoming salt water when about an inch deep did not make it chatter or false.
I was starting to doubt the detector was working properly until I hit the blob of aluminum.
Only had about 30 minutes to play and targets were scarce.
Did find one dime that was down about 6" and it gave a very strong signal.
The aluminum blob was deeper at about 10" ... IN THE WET STUFF!
The pull tab was about 4" deep.
Did hear several iron targets. (deep growl)
Found one tiny little piece of foil about 4" deep.
After totally failing my salt water tries in the Standard mode I am very impressed with this detector set up in the PRO mode.
I really did not expect it to work so well.
I think this summer this new detector is going to turn up some very good finds from the salt water and wet salt sand.
This little machine is a real winner and I predict it will quickly exceed the ACE 250 in popularity.
