At pro to Etrac

Meditech

New member
I am currently running the At pro but the FedEx truck will be here tomorrow with my Etrac, I hope the learning curve isn't to steep.

Hi Meditech, I did the same and switched from an AT Pro to Etrac.

The learning curve isn't that bad at all, I like listening to tones rather than looking at the screen all the time and the E Trac is great for that.

My finds, particularly old silvers has increased significantly. I have been going over ground I hunted with the ATP and finding cons I had missed because of the amount of trash.

Enjoy and I look forward to seeing some of your finds.

Started with the AT-Pro then got the E-Trac but kept them both and use each still for different jobs. The first month the E-Trac drove me nuts! Not hard to set up and run but those multi tones took a bit of getting used to. Nowadays though I'm used to them and really like the machine!

Big step up in my opinion. I have been using my friends AT Pro while waiting on my E-trac to get here. I love the E-trac so far and I did not have a big adjustment to it but I have had Explorers in the past and they are similar. The E-trac can be very simple to use or you can tweak it if you want to. I ran the default coin program with auto sensitivity +3 and I have done pretty well with it.

Thx for the insight everyone!!! Pulltabs must make a lower pitch sound then a coin lets say but would I haft to set 4 tone audio or muilti tone audio to here the difference, and do twist off beer caps sound rough smooth rough,

The balance is a lot better with the Etrac.
It will feel lighter.
In my test garden the Etrac out performs the AT Pro.
Run stock coin program and listen to the tones.
Try not to mess with settings for a while, this will help with frustration.

For me the AT Pro loved beer caps and some sounded just like our Australian $1 coins

The E Trac ignores them, the only targets I have issues with now are alloy screw caps like on soft drink bottles or some of the bourbon bottles. They come in near a $ 1 coin, but sometimes you can tell the difference as the signal will be a bit scratchier.
Ringpuls are a low tone but can sound like a small gold ring, so sometimes if there aren't to many about I dig them to be sure.

First slow down. Stay with stock coins program and auto sensitivity for awhile. SLOW down. Use your ears for good solid repeatable hits and SLOW down! lol

Holler if you need any help!

You should do fine. It will take you about a week or two to get comfortable with the menu's and how they work and about 3 to 6 months to learn the sounds and how to utilize the settings, modes, patterns to optimize for your conditions. Would suggest that you buy Andy's book.

I own both and the AT don't get much use unless there's water try bills trashy park program and go to your old spots and dig some silver

me and a friend went to an old school for an hour or so and the AT 1-silver Etrac-7 Silver swing very slow 1/4 of what your used to. GL HH
