AT Pro silver to date

I'm impressed with the silver the Pro has found so far this year since April...when the snow finally melted. Almost all of these finds were made at places I thought I had already cleaned out. The total face value of all my coin finds for this year is around 45 bucks (550 coins), so the ratio of silver is pretty good! I'm really hoping to beat my last year's silver coin count, and so far I'm halfway there.

There have been a lot of folks asking about the AT Pro's performance, so I thought I'd show what it's found for me so far.

Happy hunting!

Nice collection of silver:thumbup:

WTG, nice load of silver!

I've had pretty good luck getting the black off those blackened silvers by using lemon juice for just a short time (not more than a few minutes) and then rubbing it off with my fingers and rinsing the coin. Leaves the silver with a natural patina as opposed to using more abrasive methods. You have to be careful, If you leave the lemon juice on too long the silver will get an unnaturally washed out look. If the silver coin was worth significantly more than silver melt though, I'd probably be patient and soak it in olive oil.

Sure! I usually run Pro mode, max sensitivity (sometimes one bar less), Iron Discrimination at 35, and Iron Audio off. I often turn the Iron Audio on to check a target. However, I'm finding that many "iffy" targets are turning out to be coins! I was out today, to a small spot that I pounded SO hard last year, I thought there could be nothing left. I unearthed a wheat penny,1941 Canadian penny, and a Canadian 1968 silver quarter (I have dug a few of the nickel 1968 quarters, but this one is .500 silver). Both were questionable signals amongst the trash, but definitely solid enough to dig. My other detector must have been confused by the iron junk in the ground near the coins, but the Pro was able to sniff them out.

My #1 tip with the AT Pro--DIG THOSE "IFFY" SIGNALS!!!

Marcomo: thanks for the tip on cleaning...my winter project is going through the coins, cleaning the ones that are common, putting them in flips, and cataloging them in my collection book.
