A buddy and I got the opportunity to hunt the yard of a home built in 1877. We both had some good finds. We had not been hunting 10 minutes when he comes over to me with a little green disk and says "I think this is a really old wheat." I took it and flipped it over and saw "One Cent" surrounded by the wreath and I told him "nope, you've got yourself an Indian head!" We were excited, a couple of minutes later I found a Buffalo nickel. We kept at it and finally I got a good coin signal of 81. Dug a plug and there was another green disk, I picked it up and saw the Indian and a clear date of 1895, I was stoked! After a few more finds I got a good signal that sounded like a nickel, dug the plug and got what at first looked like a washer, but on closer inspection it had a square hole in the center and some emblems on it. I took it over to him and said I'm not sure but this looks like one of those Chinese Cash coins I have seen on the forums. I went back to where I dug it to fill in the hole and got another nickel signal, looked around a little and there was another one, slightly smaller than the first but with the same designs. Found ALMOST the identical one on the internet but not exactly so I am not sure as to the year of mint but I am quite sure these are my oldest coin finds to date, beating my previous which was an 1882 Indian Head! Got another nickel signal several feet away and it turned out to be a 1936 Nicarqua "cinco centavas". Got another good coin signal and dug a plug, looked into the hole and saw a large disk, dirt colored so I knew it wasn't silver but I got a rush and thought "Large Cent?", I have never found 1 and was about to get really excited but I reached in the hole and moved it just a little and saw all kinds of writing on it. Got it out and recognized it as a Soap Token which I have also seen around here before, turned out to be a Palmolive soap token. It dates from 1926-1928 due to the Company name of "The Palmolive-Peet Co. Chicago". I would have loved a large cent, but this is also cool. Went on to find an old pocket knife, a cameo necklace and an old bottle opener. My buddy got some really old wheats 1910,1912 a Buffalo nickel and some other relics. I also got a 1925 and 1948 wheat cent. It was a relly fun hunt and the AT Pro amazed me again.
