AT PRO & Salt Water Beaches

Are there any reviews/tests for the AT PRO on salt water beaches regarding performance on depth. What kind of depth is this machine going to achieve on low mineralized salt water beaches? I think in the Pro mode it is going to perform well but I read a post that stated it would not perform well and would only detect a gold ring at 2 inches. I don't buy that.

I was not able to find any gold where I was on the particluar day I was there ......I was on a saltwater beach , and did dig some clad that was about 3" deep .....Perhaps there were no other targets around , but this is what I was getting in the wet salt sand .....The AT Pro had no prolblem ground balanceing , but how deep it will go , I'm not sure ..... My buddy was in the same general area on the beach , but was down from me about 250 ft away in the same wet salt sand , and he had his CZ-21 and was digging targets down about 8-10 inches .....Again , he was a ways away from me ...... If it ever stops snowing , I will be able to bring some gold with me , and do some depth tests in the wet salt sand ......Jim

Thanks for the info, I would like to hear about your test results. It appears that this machine has the possibilities to perform well on the beach. I have used my 2500 on the beach as well as my E-Trac and Excalibur II. I would love to see this machine do well in the salt water beaches.

Thanks

Went to the beach about a week ago and was working the low tide at the water's edge. I was digging some targets at 8 plus inches . I did have some problems trying to get an accurate depth reading on the machine. This was my first time, I guess time will tell. The iron audio did not work the same as it did in the dry sand also.

I figured it wood probably get decent depth in the salted sand to judging from the 15kHz frequency and how it appears to be tweaked to find gold.

Next visit to the beach I will bring some rings and other gold and do some testing ......I'm thinking that doing an automatic ground balance to begin with , and then raising it even higher manually , will allow for some better readings on Gold .....I'm not sure yet if the AT will run more eratic or not ......I'll post my findings .... I was thinking the same, with the 15khz and manual ground balance this machine should pull 8 to 10 plus inch targets from the salt water beaches that do not require a PI to penetrate. Warmer weather and a little time and I guess we will be getting a forum full of information.

Read a review on the AT PRO sent to Garrett. The machine was used on the beach in Corpus Christi, Texas. As anyone that has ever beach hunted on salt water, a single frequency machine just does not punch very deep on salt water beaches even if the beach does not have heavy mineralization.

The report stated the AT PRO on wet sand auto ground balanced and ran stable at almost maximum sensitivity and almost as quiet as a multi frequency machine. He stated he was very happy with the results and somewhat surprised at the depth and performance of the AT PRO. The actual depth of any targets was not listed, but the author stated he also used a Minelab E-Trac as comparison to stability.

I am very interested in what this machine is going to produce once the weather warms up.
