AT Pro Problem????

GARRETT AT PRO

New member
Hi Guys,After having fun with my new AT Pro,I cleaned the entire detector with my shower head,And now if i turn it on the pro mode goes crazy even outside....
even if i turn sens down i keep hearing a constant belltone.on standard mode its still okay.
can someone please tell me what to do. i did not take the coil plug out when cleaning.

Sounds like some water got in some place. Take the coil cover off and also the disconnect the headphones and coil wire. Then let it sit in a warm place indoors for a few hours and it may dry out and be back to normal. My bet is moisture got in through the coil connection and or headphone connection at the control box. Hope that does it.

From some of the other post I've read I don't think the AT Pro is very water proof. I'll be buying one in the spring but its not going in the water. Just my opinion.

Yep, sounds like ingress of water, do as ArtWI suggests and also remove the battery door and battery pod.

you need to leave it in a warm room for at least 24 hours or so, keep us informed.

It's quite rare to get a current leaking AT Pro since most of the issues were corrected. But, as in all products, it might have happened. Perhaps you were sold some old stock? Not sure. On the plus side, Garrett will look after you. Garrett really is a leader with customer service. Please call Garrett on Monday, have your serial number handy and speak with one of the customer service reps, Sue, Brad or Hilda and they will surely look after you. They can be reached at 1-800-527-4011. (Are your connections tight with the coil where it enters the box?)

Good luck!

thanks guys the AT Pro is working again this is the 510 series(International)with camlocks so i guess it is a new model.
took out the batteries and coil conecter and works fine again.:twodetecting:

It's possible that the pressure from the shower was enough to breach a seal somewhere. Don't forget, the AT Pro is only rated for 10 feet of depth in water. Deeper than that probably gives enough pressure that the seals won't hold, and I'm pretty sure that the force of a shower spray would be greater than the submerged pressure over 10 feet deep.

when I received my AT Gold I assembled it then turned it on and submerged it in the bath tub for about 15 minutes to see if it had a problem, after 15 minutes no problems

I dunked mine in a fast running stream for about 5 minutes, and it does not leak...I wash mine in the kitchen sink under cold running water and use a soft sponge to clean stuck on mud...I lube the seals with silicon grease (plumber's stem repair grease) about once a month, or after any hunt that I change the coils...I will be replaceing the O rings in the Spring before I do any water hunting...

HH,
