i was using my friends at pro today and it was running fine and when i pressed the ground balance button there was constant noise and i would press another button like the sensitivity button and the noise would stop but it doesnt pick up no targets and when i press the ground balnce again there is constant noise again. i tried everything changing batteries and everything but its doing the same thing. any ideas??? thanks, CladKing

When you pressed the ground balance button did you hold it in and bob the coil up and down four or five time then release the button?
This should have quite it down completly.

as soon as i press the ground balance button there is constant noise i even released the botton and the noise does not stop, it sounds like a machine gun. i can press any other button and the noise stops but it wont pick up no targets. Clad

Turn the machine back on, then hold the "mode" button down, just like you were turning the machine off but continually holding the button in until you hear two beeps. It take 5-6 seconds till you hear the two beeps. This resets the machine back to its original factory setting.

I accidentally hit ground balance once a month and half ago while the coil was on the ground and all heck turned loose, sounded just like a cash register being Z' out. I did the above and all was good to go.

Hope it helps,

thanks guys for the help! i tried the reset and its still doing the same thing when i press the ground balance button it shows 80 and the noise will not stop, it sounds like a cash register having fits. Clad

Try taking the batteries out and restart the machine. Sounds like it stuck in GB..

if you just push the ground balance button and release it right away you are in manual mode you have to push it and release it again to turn it off.to auto you hold the button and pump it up and down.

Sounds like you are stuck in G B manual mode, try auto G B,switch the AT on then press and hold in G B button

still holding G B in bob the coil up and down three or four times then let go of the G B button.

Hope this helps.

Mine did that noise business yesterday. It was caused when I pushed the ground balance button while holding the coil about 2 feet off the ground. Uh oh it's broke. Let's try that again - off, on, coil 2 inches above a clear patch of earth, push and hold GB, pump about 4 seconds and bingo, 89 on the meter and nice and quiet.

Unfortunately, after one month of good work ... even here in Italy and later became the pro at a game ... with lots of sounds ... sin lacks the lights and would be perfect ... I am disappointed.

That one needs to go to the Garretts hospital !

My unit did the same thing and I sent it back to Garrett. It is working now but we will see as time goes by how it holds up.

Whenever I have a Garrett problem-and - WHEREVER- I call Garrett-the number is in my cellphone, and tell them the problem, and let them even hear it, whether I'm in a field, old homesite, park or whatever= and guess what, it's always been ME, they tell me what to do and it's fixed, guess I have been fortunate to always be the dummy, makes me feel real stupid when they tell me of some simple thing that I have to do, and never had a problem with any Garrett=
OH yeah- If I were you I'd call the folk in texas, they are great fixers if you need a fix on the machine=GARRETT=Class outfit:garrett:

All it sounds too me is the sensativity is way too high !! I noticed when you dropped it down a couple notches it was way more stable

greet all
from Christmas that use atpro, has to say that I have had fortune not to have problems, it has some troubles whether to shake tall in air, but put to earth and always at the most the sensibility
if it has problems operation I will write to Garret as I have to do, from Italy it is not easy consignment to mend

wildeagle77,

Looks like you will have to send yours in for repair.

Look at the bright side, they may send you back a gift!

Good Hunting
