AT-PRO peformance at M.A and N.H beaches?

JASONSPAZ1

I have been detecting for 27 years and know perfectly well that only so much can be expected from a single frequency machine at a salt water beach. In saying that does anyone have any experience with an AT-PRO at the N.H and M.A saltwater beaches.
How does it work for you?
Thanks in advance

Turn down the sensitivity a bit to keep the machine stable in the wet sand. Dry sand I haven't had any problems with it. The machine loves hot rocks and big lead sinkers, I will say that much about it.

HH!

Jason,

Chatty in the wet sand and water. Toning down the sensitivity will settle it down but you won't be getting much depth.

As expected dry sand is not a problem.

I hunt/wade waist deep on Cape Cod beaches and if you ground balance it properly and tweak the sensitivity you'll get pretty decent performance. It usually ground balanced between 10-22 IN THE WATER and I use a sensitivity setting that still gives a little chatter. After you get used to it, the chatter almost seems like background noise and there will still be no doubt when your over a target. It's not a great salt water machine but it works ok and you'l have success. Being a land hunter, salt water beaches are a lot more frustrating and require a lot pore patience but can be much more rewarding (but not for me, so far).

I spent about an hour with the AT Pro at the NH/MA state line last year. As others have said, no problem on dry sand but as soon as I got into the wet stuff the machine was howling like a pissed off Chihuahua. I sold my backup AT-Pro and replaced it with a PI.

In New york City area the AT P went crazy but..... when I used the 3030 in the same water / area it was quiet and found great hits. The AT P was great in the woods, parks damp lakes. I wouldn't sell the AT P . Garrett backs up the service when I had problems with two of there products. And the equipment is great. Only the pick should have the magnetic mounted on the end of the handle not on the pick end where it is imposable to us it in tight quarters.
Now the 3030 has quite a learning curve. the instructions are not clear enough. example : resetting to factory settings while making changes to learn the buttons. Instructions say press the on button then when the screen comes on press the button to reset. Wellllll..... to reset when you power up keep holding the power button while booting the machine then it will go to the reset menu. The battery gasket is to small in thickness so it can leak along with the latches that hold the battery in place tight, can catch on something like your cloths and snap open. videos tell you to put a rubber band around the latches. For the over 2k you pay for the machine mine lab dropped the ball. The computer connection cap doesn't have a O ring. videos advise you to put a O ring under the cap to secure the water tight seal. Little things make or break a deal
