I was playing with the At Pro tonight. It isn't as bad as I first Suspected. It looked so cheap I was thrown off by that. Once assembled and put together it is sorta ok in the stability of use department. Arm Cuff isn't as bad as many said. It is just a little shorter than what We are used to.... That can be an easy fix. The iron discrimination is actually pretty neat. It's no more than discrimination set up on it's own program for just the iron range. 0 to 39 though mine goes to numeric number 40.. with a audio set up just for the iron.On or Off your choice. It then has the GTI regular discrimination like on the 2500 1500 series.... using iron audio ability on, you can hear the iron even though it does not detect it.. A very very nice feature if your in iron infested areas.if you get a false reading you can go over the signal a few times and the iron audio id's it as iron. So you don't dig it. Bottle caps are broken up too..another nice feature it buzzes on them and then gives iron signal. It has two search modes Pro and Standard. The pro mode gives different sounds for the good, and the bad targets. No bell tone ..I like that. Now the bell tone. In standard mode it has bell tone on this machine. It is much ,much nicer than on the other Garrett's I have used with Bell tone. Not offensive in the sound and responds immediately. Not slow at all, or the feeling of a delay like the other Bell tone units. It has a complete separate notch system at the touch of a button. Auto ground balance, and manual ground balance, using the notch button up or down to set the GB in manual. In auto, hold the button, pump the coil, and the machine balances perfectly. The biggie on this machine is the Iron disc mode.. and the audio sound on or off as you set it differently. The Air test are about normal no earth shaking depth but very acceptable depth for a detector by Garrett or any other brand. If it were built better I think I would like it better.(Rod locks etc). So I am going to try and get past the plastic machine parts, arm rest etc, and see how it goes. The auto ground balance does do it's job very, very, well. It. "after a few Bobbings" the coil 1 to 8" up and down goes silent pretty much and is very very stable. Maybe the darn thing is a decent detector after all.I know I said I was unhappy in my original post to you. As I said, the cheap looks and feel threw me.. I thought oh my God, a $600.00 dollar toy. Something tells me after fooling with it. It isn't a toy. In fact, it has the potential to be a darn decent machine.
Thought I would share the Pm for all to read. Don't be like me and let first Impressions spoil your ability to check out something before you rant and rave to someone LOL You just may have to send a second Pm like this one. Hahahahahaha
