AT PRO NOTCHING SYSTEM?

AT PRO owners how well does the notching system work on the detector ? is it pretty reliable and accurate againt a know notched out target?

Its not to bad. I usually notch out foil. That being said. Ocasionally you might find a wad of foil especially if is the size of a coin. Happened today. Had I notched the 2 bottom icons I would have not found it. It seems to me when I notch out pennies. The close to the surface pennies still ring in the 10 cent area. I have had this happen in wet ground with sensitivity all the way up. std mode

The main trouble with notching out a segment is that if you want to pick up the first number not notched out, it sometimes does not sound very good. This is true of all detectors. A good number often needs two or three VDI numbers on both sides to sound off clear. Example: If you want to hear 46 clear, you should not eliminate 40-45, foil.

If I don't want to dig 40-45, I simply do not dig these numbers, but I do not eliminate them. If I get in an area that has a great deal of foil and can slaw, I might notch out a couple of low notches and accept the fact that I might be missing some fine gold targets.

On the other hand, if you are looking for a lost earring, you can get the conuctivity number, then notch out most of the other numbers, and hunt with ease.

John, I did that with my GTI 1500, my wife had the same ring and I just matched the notch, found the ring in the dresser draw, got out of the dog house that day :)
