AT Pro - More benefits than listed! :detecting:

Garrett is spoiling us with a waterproof machine. This means it's dust proof too. No more environmental covers either. Keep your plastic bags in the kitchen drawer! If you bring it home dirty just hose it off! You don't have to put it in the water to reap the benefits. All those features and under $600! Now the other manufactures will have to start over on their new machines. I mean ABC manufacturer comes out with a new machine. First question will be. Is it waterproof?

I could very well be a marriage saver too. No more questions of why we need multiple machines! I would never ask why someone needs 10 purses!

:usaflag:I don't think I would go as far as hitting it with a garden hose, but I see your point. Maybe just a vigorous cleaning with a washcloth. I'll let you try it first..lol.

Yeah as I previously stated somewhere - old Charlie and crew raised the bar again for the competition. They'll have to burn the midnight oil now to catch up. Garrett nearly made the ultimate detector. Being able to hunt on land then just waltz out into the water and continue hunting is going to be a giant selling point and eliminate having to own several detectors for different types of hunting. Garrett finally got their act together as I knew they could. Maybe they started listening to the customers. What other wonders can we expect to emerge from the back room at Garrett? I don't think this is the end and I have a feeling Charles has more up his sleeve.

Bill.

Since it's completely waterproof it shouldn't hurt it. You can bet if Garrett claims ten feet that it was tested to a greater depth than that.

I just don't see how this machine can be topped? I'm also glad to see a Sniper coil is available!

Yeah the competition really has their work cut out for them as old Charlie laid down a whole new set of ground rules. This is the machine we've all been waiting for - one that does it all and at an affordable price. No more closets full of detectors. And I'm sure later on it will be improved even more. Garrett can build another wing on their factory after they have sold a train load of these puppies. We're going to see a lot of brand swapping real soon. The classifieds should fill up fast. HA.

I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a new 350. Then the AT Pro came to light. So I'm simply going to wait for it. Unless Charles pulls another machine out of his hat!!

Yea, but remember the old AT4 was touted to be a 10 foot machine, but was quickly revised to 4 feet.
Anyway, with an absence of tuner shafts, and other case penetrations, this one should be easier to KEEP waterproof.

I guess I better start saving up.....

If this new AT Pro is everything its cracked up to be Garrett may have just
beat out Whites MXT. That's saying something because the MXT has been a mainstay
of Whites for a long long time.

I don't really understand this "FAST GRAB" feature. Can someone be really remedial and
explain this concept?

Katz

Since the AT Pro has "fast track" others might confuse this with "auto track" Not positive if it doesn't have Auto track though. So I found this info in the Garrett 2500 manual and copied it to this post. I hope this helps. But I guess we really need to read the manual on the AT Pro itself. I personally like manual GB the best anyway.
"Fast Track ground balancing is accomplished
by pressing and holding the ALLMETAL/
Fast Track touchpad while "bouncing"
the searchcoil from two to eight
inches above the ground. When there is a
minimal audio response from the ground,
release the touchpad and begin hunting.
When the touchpad is released, Auto Track
continues to make all adjustments necessary
to eliminate ground minerals from
detection."

Yeah a feller doesn't know what to do. Wish they would release them all at once so one could choose instead of dribbling them out one at a time. The 350 should do well since it's a souped up 250 but the AT will steal the show.

Bill

It wouldn't surprise me if Garrett has another rabbit in the hat but don't think they will pull it out until the uproar over the AT has subsided.
