AT Pro - Mineralization Question

Blink

Member
This question has probably been asked before. When you ground balance and get a high GB number say 80 - 99 is this considered a high minerlized area and should I be using a DD coil? If the GB readings are 60 - 80 or lower would a concentric coil be best to use? I know the frequencies are the same and it shouldn't matter but is there an advantage using one over the other?

I've had 3 different AT Pros and 2 of them was supposed to be new and one updated. With my first one the auto GB would move from 90 to 80 and/or move from 10 to 40. The other 2 don't seem to do anything on auto GB. At my location a manual GB of 62 will get max depth. Garrett seems to have done something with GB on the Gold.

In my understanding, a DD coil works best in a highly mineralized area, like your 80 - 99 GB numbers, and a concentric coil works best in a low mineralized area.

I was considering getting the larger concentric coil for my AT so I called Garrett. When I told the helpful lady, Sue that my ground balanced at 89-91 she said I must be in the Northwest (yes) and that the DD is the best choice for me.
