AT Pro Leads me to 2 silver first!!

snide

Had an awesome day today with the AT PRO. My machine has preformed well for me here in Indiana and also in VA digging civil war relics....I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I know this is the only machine I need compared to ALL others I've seen thus far....(well, I'd buy another AT Pro as soon as Garret comes out with the wireless headphone option  ) Anyways, was hunting a 1840's homesite and right off the bat I dug a 1914 Barber dime at 6 inches (my first barber dime!) only to take about three swings past that hole to hit a strong 94 signal, LOCKED ON! I nealt down and found that my Pro-Pointer was picking up the target just below the surface under the sod.....Flipped it up with the Leshe, a 1951 Franklin Half!! (My first Half dollar of any sort!) Went on to have an awesome day digging 6 wheaties some clad and a sterling silver heart pendant. I also found a cool OLD childs toy revolver about a foot deep. Had two Buddies with me they had an awesome day as well, Silver Washington Quarter, Barber Quarter, 2 merc dimes, 1853 half cent and many wheaties.

Yup, good day!! :detecting:

WTG snide!!!!!! How did you haave your settings snide??? Right on a 1914 Barber, And a 1/2 Dollar!!!!!! Your the Man!!!!!
I found a 1914 Barber are thy a Key Date Arron??? Mickfin,

Thanks Fella's!! Answering the questions about the settings. I hunt in the Pro Coins mode most all the time. If I'm in a trashy area I'll go standard coins mode periodicly checking my targets with the iron audio. As far as the ground balance and tuning in my AT Pro I took a tip from John here on the Forum, After manualy ground balancing my machine I then lower my GB 10-20 depending where I think the "sweet spot" is that keeps my AT hitting on all cylinders. Hard to explain, but "I think" (if even in my own mind) there is a sweet spot in a simple adjustment of the ground balance that will tune the AT Pro to be super sensitive towards coins. I have found that when the AT Pro is dialed in and in good soil, it will LOCK on a coin more so, and even better. I dug 3 Indian head pennies a couple weeks ago at every bit of 10 inches that was reading between 6-8 inches on the depth scale. I jokingly say that's when I have the AT PRO running hot! lol

(Quote from John Edmonton: Try it, I'm fairly certain you'll be glad you did)

"There is a tremendous performance gain on HI conductors when Ground Bal is lowered."
"There is a tremendous performance gain on LOW conductors when Ground Bal is raised."

In other words....if you are relic hunting and looking for deep iron, raise the ground balance numbers about 10 +/- numbers.
If you are looking for copper or silver items, lower the ground balance numbers about 10 +/- numbers.

It's interesting you came up with a Ben Franklin I just didn't think those things really circulated there so big. The predisesor half dollar seemed allot smaller by comparison.
