AT Pro in wet sand

warror

New member
I watched the video on ground balancing in wet sand, but I would like to know if anyone has had the opportunity to give their pro solid time during low tide in the wet sand? I will not be swinging in the surf but we've had some great negative low tides and my Vaquero is struggling out there.

I'm really want to get one but with my V working great everywhere else, I'm looking for a sensibly priced unit for the low tide.

Thanks, Jesse

ground balances well on wet sand (13 to 14 here in NJ), very quiet, but you do get rap around 99 to 1, 2 on DIGITAL ID when coil comes across basalt or diabase

Yes ... it works very well in the wet saltwater sand.
Auto ground balance somewhere around 12 - 15 here in the Texas Gulf coast.
Can usually run max sensitivity (all 8 bars) and it does get deep.
Not as deep as a PI but for a VLF it gets down there.

Another advantage the AT Pro has is those dern bottle caps that like to masquerade as a quarter to most detectors.
Set up the AT Pro in Pro mode zero - set the iron discrimination to 40 - when you find a good high signal target press the Iron audio button.
If you hear the low iron tone before and after the good high tone ... it is a bottle cap.

I bet that after you use the At Pro for a while the Vaquero will be feeling kinda lonely.

One can also use the "logo discrimination" to nail those bottlecaps or to verify the low/high audio method.

Bill.
