AT Pro in the water

I have not tried my AT Pro in the water yet. My question is - Have any of you used yours under water and the "O" rings were not seated properly? If so, what happened?

According to the Garrett service tech I talked with the connectors are bulkheaded so even a massive connector leak cannot get to the electronics. Same goes for the battery compartment. What they are achieving is keeping the connections dry. If it leaked due to a poorly seated o-ring the worst would be wet connections which could be flushed and dried.

The "O" ring will seat properly just make sure you don't pinch it when sliding it in. It is a tight fit, and with alittle silicone it can create such a good seal that the plug wants to pop back out (pressure behind the plug). Just use enough silicone to keep the "O" ring moist...very little is needed. When you screw it in occasionally gently rock the plug back and forth, then tighten some more. I do this until it does not have any movement when I try and rock it and the connector is tight. Never use a tool to tighten, hand tight is sufficient. Check both the headphone and coil connections for tightness before each time taking it into the water...they sometimes loosen up alittle with use.

Grab yourself a scoop, gonna need one, and go see what might be hiding in the water of your favorite swimming hole. Good Luck. HH

Ive tightened my connectors hand tight on my at pro and at gold and both are fine in the water. they came lubed and Ive got the waterproof headphones on both and they are staying that way till late fall:thumbup:
