Day off for me today, cloudy, windy and chance of rain but that did not stop us. Got the AT Pro yesterday, put it together and found that the headphones did not work.......maybe a broken wire inside the headset. Emailed Mr. Bart at Big Boy Hobbies and he gave me the phone number for Garrett.......Thank you very much Garrett as they will be sending out a new set ASAP.....very good people to deal with. I had bought the waterproof headphones for the Pro, loaded them up with some closed cell packing material which worked very good.
Hubby took the ACE 350 for a walk on the beach while I took the AT Pro. Targets have been few and far but the Garrett machines did very well in an area considered sanded in and hunted out. We arrived at before high tide so it was mostly dry sand hunting. After about 15 minutes of getting used to the AT Pro I was on the hunt........finding coins extremely deep. I had the sensitivity set at 1 notch below max and was digging holes 16-18 inches deep. The AT Pro may not be for the new guy on the block as it takes some experience with detectors to know what it is telling you on the beach. Parks and relic hunting may be a different story, I will see about that at a later date when the land icebergs go away.
I really like the AT Pro and was very impressed with its performance on the beach. We are headed to FL next weekend and I cannot wait to see how it will really perform in the waters of the Gulf.
The Ace 350 is also an excellent land machine that was able to go right down to the waters edge without falsing. This is another deep machine finding targets 12+ inches deep.
