AT Pro in saltwater

I have noticed some people starting to have some pretty good finds on the dry sand and wet sand of saltwater beaches with the Garrett AT Pro and there is even some youtube videos of some guys out in the ocean about 4 or 5 feet deep having some luck with it. Have any of you beach and saltwater hunters tried it out? or had any success in those areas with it?

I've used mine on the beach, but not been in too deep with it as it's not salt proof ..... the connectors turn white if it's not cleaned / washed after being used at the beach. Seems Garrett did not look into the connectors being taken for a swim in salt water etc.

As for the AT Pro on the beach, yes, it works well, I found 2 rings (silver & gold) and about $40.00 in lost change over the summer just from the beach alone.

It will work ok, but if the majority of your hunting will be in the wet sand/saltwater environment, you'd be better off with a multi-frequency or pulse unit. There are those who will disagree, but that's been my experience after many years of detecting.

I use mine in salt water no problem, and the connectors will turn white and sieze up if their not cleaned frequently. I use Pro zero iron off and 3 to 4 sen. and hit pull tabs easily at 6 plus inches. It will chirp a bit but you can easily ID good targets.

Anything used in saltwater needs to be cleaned after use. I always clean my fishing poles as well. It's a good practice to get into. No man made things will hold up to salt for very long. It is a corrosive after all.
