AT Pro in Salt Water

New member
I see complaints about too much chatter, doesn't work in slat water, what settings do I need to use... the answer is READ THE MANUAL!!! Ihaver now 10 metal detectors form Excalibur's, Tiger Sharks, V3is, Fisher CZ21 etc. If you follow the manual the defector works just fine. Pro mode IS more sensitive... no problem for rme. The detector does what Garrett says it will do.... If you don't like it don't bu , stay out of the water and leave the best finds for me. Some people are not meant to hunt in any water.

These statements may seem harsh but not meant to be... just the facts... all detectors are not created equally, nor should they be. Each have their good and bad points. This report is not q consumer report on the AT Pro only my initial experience. I have no problem using it so it works for me.

i am afraid u are correct.

this is my second garrett and it does seem to be ok so far in the water.

i waterproofed both my expII and a new se pro few months ago and let me tell u..............this pro is some deep deep heater on the damp salt sand.............it is truly amazing how deep it hits on dimes.

i have tested it against several excals and GT's.............at no setting can either hear what i hear with the pro. after i get a scoop or two of sand off, both can hear ok, B U T my old body can not stand digging targets that damn deep.........scary deep.........toooo deep for me.

f y i only..............not MHO..........just facts on this

Max ,
You're confusing me with your writing .....You mention " PRO " ....." .this pro is some deep deep heater on the damp salt sand " ........Are you talking here about the AT PRO , or the SE PRO when you make this statement ? ........Thanks, Jim

Mike,

What some may consider the best detector in the world
is useless especially since it takes miracles of pateince
with their customter services issues.

Been there ...done that.... I'll take the Garrett anyday!

from what i have experience and read about, only the excals. seem to have problems.............knock on wood....me never.

i bought expII in 2004 waterproofed in 2005 sold it to a fellow in kentucky, bought it back this spring added new pro coil and then got new se pro.

again knock on wood.............either have had any issues ever....

had 4 minelab GT's over 15 years.............had to send one back once for threshold know and one of my older excals once 10 years or so ago.
