At pro. How do you run it?

Whats the best way to run your at pro in high trash area? Or just in a low trash area? Trash meaning lots of nails an iron. Do you have iron audio on? Zero discrimination?

Also what should I look for when say a iron nail is near a silver quarter what will that come up on in vdi

If you don't want the iron. In Pro Mode, run you iron disc at 30 to 35. Some will tell you pro zeros, but I often use Pro Custom when I am hitting similar areas to filter out some of the trash. If you run over a coin with a nail you may hear both but the coin will dominate.

Pro mode zero iron disc at 31 and if it's real thick in nails I turn iron audio on and pick out the non ferrous signals and dig them all up iron will sometimes cause the vdi to be off so don't grow to depend on it to be accurate in alot of ferrous trash. Also if it's a one way good sounding signal dig it cause it could be masked the other direction.

I run disc on 30, and I only turn iron audio on in patches of iron so I can pick out good signals. I also run the sensitivity on max.

I run in pro zero with disc anywhere from 25 to 35 depending on how much iron I am picking up in the area. I only turn on iron audio when I get a good signal and want to check it for iron. While bottle caps will sound off with a good signal+grunting, some aluminum cans and food cans void of iron will sound off as a good dime hit. A lot of times the coin depth indicator will jump around a lot on mashed up aluminum cans, but gives a good signal. I will dig a lot of these just for the sake of not missing a good target, but the more I dig them, the more I am learning to trust my machine. It just takes practice and patience. I am still learning too!

I used to run in Pro zero and disc set around 31 and would check signals with iron audio.
Recently I have used pro zero, no discrimination. It makes the audio
extremely busy but I like being able to hear everything.

I always run mine HOT HOT HOT!
Pro-Mode
Custom
Iron Audio=ON
Sensitivity = max
Notch = under 40

I've been mainly using my AT Gold, but same basic principles apply. I'm sure you watched the Garrett training vids where they discuss using just enough iron discrimination to knock out the nails, etc. Most of my hunting areas are so infested that I can't really use Iron Audio as there is literally not a quite patch of ground. so, I end up doing a lot of digging, but there's enough goodness coming out of the earth to keep me happy. Some days I hunt in coins mode with iron discrim maxed out at 44 (ATG goes to 44), other days I hunt in the equivalent of pro zero, iron discrim at 35 or so. I usually do the latter when re-checking productive areas to make sure that I didn't miss anything-- and I do a lot of relic hunting, so some of the iron is of interest.

Do some testing to see what works for you - that's the beauty of the ATs - hit a few buttons and it's like a whole different machine. Save the settings that you use often in "Custom". The 5x8 coil is nice to have if you hunt a lot of trashy areas- does an amazing job of picking through the junk.
