AT pro headphones..

It appears the advertisements are incomplete...Seems like we have to use the headphones that come with the unit and to be waterproof have to buy the $100 waterproof headphones..
Also if we have our favorite expensive headphones we need an adaptor to use them and does Garrett supply the adaptor and will it influence the abilities of our personal headphones.
Funny Garrett does not include this adaptor as an accessory to the AT pro...Any learned individual care to comment as we all learn from discussion...

A lot of people will not be using the AT Pro in the water, and will be using an opposite argument to yours...".why do I have to use an expensive set of water headsets with this unit, when I could save some $$$ with a standard set." It's not an individually customized detector for each person. I think Garrett set out to sell a basic packaged machine, with options. This is what we get. Want water proof headset, you buy them. Want an adapter ....you pay for it. Will an adapter void the waterproofing warranty? I don't know.

With the detector being used in the rain will the standard issued headphones make it rainproof or will one have to purchase the under water headphones to make it rainproof.
Same goes for using your personal favorite headphones with adaptor....certainly not knocking Garrett as used almost all of their units from the last 20 years and a few even older and as always a quality product. I really don't know if John has one in his hands or getting his info directly from the factory in either case knowing John he will answer to the best of his ability...

i would cut off the plug up about 2 " on the cable. go to rs and get a in line femail 1/4 stereo plug and solder it on the cable, then put a 1/4" plug on the head phones .,now you can use your head phones or the ones that came with it Dennis in ny

I've ordered a set of Underwater Grey Ghosts with the Garret connector for the AT Pro on it so I can go anywhere, anytime. I wouldn't mind using my Killer B's, but they aren't waterproof. Wheeeeeee, it's gonna be fun!!!

I have already bitched about the lack of waterproof headphones being included with the detector. IMHO If you're going to sell the customer a waterproof ( allegedly all terrain ) detector then it would be prudent to include waterproof headphones instead of just concentrating on fattening the bottom line.

Yeah I've been a Garrett fan about that long or maybe longer and their stuff is hard to beat and I've owned and used a lot of other brands.

The thing is the waterproof phones work equally well on dry land so one has lost or gained nothing except his detector will be amply equipped should he decide to water hunt and also adds to the appeal and value should he choose to sell it later. When I see Infiniums up for sale one of the first questions asked is does it have waterproof phones.

If the AT was just an ordinary detector then I could see it but it is promoted as an "All Terrain", which it isn't without waterproof phones. One shouldn't have to cough up another hundred bucks to complete the package and make it a true all terrain..

I dont see a problem with it. You own your own company and give free stuff away and see how long your in business. Most people will use it on land more I bet and then they will need headphones with a volume control as the detector itself seems to not have one that I can see so far. I dont expect Garrett to give away headphones for this detector...The waterproof head set are not cheep to make, they being an accessory is fine with me.

I guess Garrett should give a backpack, all the accsesory coils and a sand scoop, digger all for free those who buy an AT-Pro who complain to much.

P.S. The land headphones will do fine in a light rain...been there, done that, ALOT...still work.
